Stability of Indo-Pacific region to dominate Modi’s visits to Australia and New Zealand
New Delhi: Finalising a deal for BrahMos missiles and exploring collaboration on Scorpene-class submarines with Indonesia will be high on the agenda during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Jakarta next week.

On his fourth visit to Indonesia as Prime Minister (which includes previous trips for G20 and ASEAN summits), Modi will seek to boost the strategic partnership encompassing defence, maritime security and connectivity. Indonesia is India's largest maritime neighbour and shares deep historical ties with the country.

From Indonesia, at the invitation of Australian PM Anthony Albanese, Modi will travel to Melbourne from July 8 to 10. During the visit, he will hold bilateral discussions with Albanese and participate in the India-Australia CEOs Forum, where he will address leading business figures from both countries. The Australia leg of the visit will focus on further strengthening defence cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region. Australia's National Defence Strategy 2026 has identified India as a top-tier security partner.

From Melbourne, at the invitation of New Zealand Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, Modi will travel to Auckland for a state visit from July 10 to 11. This will be the first state visit by an Indian Prime Minister to New Zealand in four decades. In Auckland, Modi will hold bilateral talks with Luxon and review the entire spectrum of bilateral ties, which have seen significant progress over the past two years, particularly in trade, commerce and defence.
