'Deeply saddened': President Murmu condoles deaths in Delhi building collapse

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Sunday said she is deeply saddened due to loss of lives in a building collapse here and expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

A five-storey building serving as a paying guest accommodation for students in south Delhi's Satya Niketan collapsed this afternoon, leading to the death of five. A multi-agency operation was underway till night to rescue around 15-20 people trapped under the debris, officials said.

"I am deeply saddened by the accident of a building collapse in Delhi. My heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones in this tragedy. I pray for the swift recovery of the injured," President Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi.
