Deccan Queen at 97: India’s railway icon, Mumbai–Pune heritage train gets upgrades & Vistadome

Mumbai’s iconic Deccan Queen enters its 97th year of service, marking 96 years since its launch on June 1, 1930 between Mumbai and Pune under the Great Indian Peninsula Railway. Indian Railways continues to operate the train as India’s first deluxe electric-hauled intercity service, featuring a historic dining car and modern upgrades including a Vistadome coach for Western Ghats views. The train remains one of the most iconic heritage services in Indian Railways history.
