District and police officials said that they are prima facie treating the case as an accident but would investigate what caused the accident.
Mistry was travelling with three other people, Darius Pandole, his wife Anahita and Darius’s brother Jehangir. Pandole was an independent director of Tata group of companies. He had opposed a resolution moved by promoter Tata Sons seeking removal of Mistry as the company’s chairman. Anahita is a leading gynaecologist at Mumbai’s Breach Candy hospital.
“Prima facie we are treating it as an accident, though we would investigate the cause of the accident,” police officials said.
