Puri: Anchored boats on the shore after India Meteorological Department issued an alert for coastal states regarding Cyclone Asani, in Puri district.
Severe cyclonic storm, Asani, which originated over parts of Bay of Bengal is likely to reach the coast of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha coast by May 10, said the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday.

“Thereafter, it is very likely to recurve north-north eastwards and move towards northwest Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast,” it said. The storm is likely to weaken gradually into a cyclonic storm during the next 48hours, the department said.
