Crude bomb recovered from Palash Sheikh’s house in Rampurhat

A huge container of bombs has been recovered from the house of Palash Sheikh, one of the accused in Trinamool deputy panchayat head Bhadu Sheikh’s murder case in Bogtui village of Rampurhat. “Palash Sheikh has been absconding following Bhadu Sheikh’s death on March 21. He is one of the main accused in the Bhadu Sheikh’s murder case. The Bomb Disposal Squad has recovered 20 active crude bombs from a bucket-like container near the house of Palash Sheikh in Bogtui village which was later disposed,” police sources said. Police received the tip-off from the villagers about the bombs being buried near the accused’s house while interrogating them.

A team of CBI officers, a West Bengal Police team led by Dhiman Mitra the newly-appointed Sub-Divisional Police officer, and a Bomb Disposal Squad went to the village after receiving information about the bombs on Palash Sheikh’s residential premises.

Mihilal Sheikh and Sheikhlal Sheikh’s statements were recorded by the CBI. Both were relatives of the victims, who were charred to death, on March 21 night, after Bhadu Sheikh was murdered.


Meanwhile, a group of 22 intellectuals from Bengal, including renowned director Aparna Sen and actor Parambrata Chatterjee, have written a letter to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on the Rampurhat violence.
