Imran Patel, a 35-year-old professional cricketer, passed away on Wednesday night after suffering a massive cardiac arrest during a league match at Garware Stadium. The incident occurred while Patel was walking back to the pavilion following complaints of chest pain.

Collapse During Live-Streamed Match

Patel, the opening batsman for his team, had just played a few overs when he informed the umpires about pain in his left arm and chest. After a brief conversation, he began walking off the field but suddenly collapsed. The moment was captured live as the match was being streamed.

He was rushed to a private hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead on arrival, citing a massive cardiac arrest as the cause.


Fellow Players in Shock

Fellow cricketers expressed disbelief over the incident. Many were shocked by Imran Patel’s sudden demise, as he was known to be in excellent health. A physically fit all-rounder, Imran was highly active throughout matches, making his cardiac arrest unexpected and difficult for many to comprehend.

Imran is survived by his wife and three daughters, including his youngest, a four-month-old baby. He was a well-known figure in the community, owning a cricket team, managing a real estate business, and running a juice shop.

A Troubling Pattern

Patel's death comes just months after another cricketer, 55-year-old Habib Shaikh, passed away while playing a match in Pune. Shaikh, who was diabetic, also succumbed to cardiac arrest.

The back-to-back deaths have left the local cricketing community deeply shaken, raising concerns about the health and well-being of players.
