One of the most prominent changes is the introduction of new uniforms for the staff. As per a TOI report quoting officials, those engaged in legislative duties will sport a new uniform comprising cream-colored jackets, cream shirts adorned with a pink lotus emblem, and khaki trousers. Remarkably, this uniform will be standardized for the entire staff of both Houses, fostering a sense of unity and equality.
The distribution of these fresh uniforms has already taken place, ensuring that all 271 staff members, including chamber attendants and verbatim reporting service personnel, are ready for the historic session. Additionally, it's worth noting that security officers from the Parliament Security Service (Operations) will be donning army camouflage uniform instead of the traditional blue safari suits, enhancing their professional presence.
Sources close to the matter told TOI that these new uniform designs have been meticulously crafted by the National Institute of Fashion Technology. Notably, the chosen uniform design is gender-neutral, aligning with the principles of inclusivity and equality.
In an internal circular, it was disclosed that all entitled officials and personnel collected their attires on September 6, ensuring that they are well-prepared for the upcoming session. Originally, there was a plan to unveil these uniforms during the grand inauguration of the new Parliament building. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the unveiling was delayed.
The special five-day session, commencing on September 18, is expected to mark a poignant farewell to the current Parliament building, which has witnessed historic moments throughout India's journey. On the first day, both Houses are likely to engage in discussions regarding the role and significance of the old Parliament building, both pre- and post-Independence. The subsequent day may see a symbolic joint meeting convened at the Central Hall, before proceedings transition to the splendid new edifice.
