Covid death recount: Late reporting is not peculiar to India alone
In June three states — Maharashtra, Bihar and Goa — reported around 8,000 fatalities not recorded earlier, pushing up the death count.

-At least 8 states have reported unusually high fatality figures on some days

-Even the Covid test number was revised up 7.6 million
Revision after aggregate numbers were reconciled with state data

-Reasons for delay in reporting
- Late reporting of deaths by hospitals and clinics
- Delay in updating of data or reconciliation
- Data not reported regularly
- 1,500 more deaths reported in US count after adding Indiana backlog
- Last month Oklahoma & Maryland added backlogged deaths
- In April, Oklahoma added many deaths from previous months
- In Oct, UK reported more than 12K covid infections, including unspecified number of deaths
