Hospitals in the worst-hit Covid-19 states have been gasping for oxygen on hourly basis as the surge in cases continues to push the health infrastructure to the brink. Doctors have taken to social media to highlight oxygen shortage, as state governments knock high courts to streamline equitable oxygen distribution.

Meanwhile, hospitals in Delhi and some of the worst-hit states like Maharashtra have been reporting critical shortage of beds and oxygen.

The government has also ramped up efforts to get medical oxygen to hospitals using special Oxygen Express trains, air force planes and trucks to transport tankers.
