Covid-19: Puducherry imposes night curfew till 31st January

Earlier this month, the Union Territory relaxed the curfew completely on Christmas eve and Christmas -- December 24 and 25 and also relaxed night curfew up to 2am on December 30 and 31 and January 1 for New Year celebrations.

The curfew, however, will not be imposed on Vaikunta Ekadashi.
Amid India's surge in COVID-19 cases and an Omicron-led third wave fears, Puducherry has imposed a night curfew from 11 pm till 5 am till 31st January 2022, following many other states who have put similar restrictions.

The curfew, however, will not be imposed on Vaikunta Ekadashi.

Earlier this month, the union territory relaxed the curfew completely on Christmas eve and Christmas -- December 24 and 25 and also relaxed night curfew up to 2am on December 30 and 31 and January 1 for New Year celebrations.


The government had also permitted social cultural gatherings on December 24, 25, 30 and 31 and January 1 subject to ensuring Covid-19 appropriate behaviour.

"Restaurants/ hotels/ bars/ liquor shops/ hospitality sector establishments shall be permitted to operate by strictly following Covid-19 appropriate behaviour. However, with the approval of the concerned licensing authority, operations may be carried out beyond normal hours on New Year eve (December 31)," said the order.
