COVID-19: Mumbai reports 10,860 new cases

Mumbai on Tuesday reported addition of 10,860 new Covid-19 cases. Out of these, 9,665 or 89% are asymptomatic in nature.

Mumbai on Tuesday reported addition of 10,860 new Covid-19 cases. Out of these, 9,665 or 89% are asymptomatic in nature. Total active cases in the city now stands at 47,476.

Data shows 834 were hospitalised in the last 24 hours while two deaths were reported. The recovery rate in Mumbai stands at 92% while the doubling rate in the city is at 110 days.

Earlier on Tuesday, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar had said that if the daily Covid-19 cases cross the 20,000-mark, a lockdown will be imposed in the city as per the Centre's rules. The mayor has appealed for all Covid-19-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be followed. “We should not let such a time come for the city. None of us wants lockdown but we all need to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour and ensure that there is no need for it (lockdown),” she said.
