Mumbai on Tuesday reported addition of 10,860 new Covid-19 cases. Out of these, 9,665 or 89% are asymptomatic in nature.
Data shows 834 were hospitalised in the last 24 hours while two deaths were reported. The recovery rate in Mumbai stands at 92% while the doubling rate in the city is at 110 days.
Earlier on Tuesday, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar had said that if the daily Covid-19 cases cross the 20,000-mark, a lockdown will be imposed in the city as per the Centre's rules. The mayor has appealed for all Covid-19-related standard operating procedures (SOPs) to be followed. “We should not let such a time come for the city. None of us wants lockdown but we all need to follow Covid-appropriate behaviour and ensure that there is no need for it (lockdown),” she said.
