COVID-19: Kerala records 37,290 new cases, 79 deaths

While Malappuram reported 4,774 cases, other districts including Ernakulam and Kozhikode reported 4,514 and 3,927 cases respectively.

Kerala on Tuesday reported 37,290 new COVID-19 cases, taking the overall tally to 19,37,350, while 79 deaths pushed the toll to 5,958, the state government said.

The total number of active cases in the state now stands at 4,23,957.

A total of 32,978 patients have been cured, taking the number of recoveries to 15,37,138, a health department bulletin said.


In the last 24 hours, as many as 1,39,287 samples were tested and the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) was 26.77 per cent.

While Malappuram reported 4,774 cases, other districts including Ernakulam and Kozhikode reported 4,514 and 3,927 cases respectively.

Thiruvananthapuram, which reported the highest number of cases in the state on Monday, added 3,700 fresh cases.

Of the fresh cases, 215 people had come from outside the state and 34,256 were infected through contact, the government said.

Those who tested positive on Tuesday included 143 health workers.

No case has been reported from the people who came from abroad in the last 24 hours, it said.
