Covid-19 cases fall, but Karnataka reports record deaths; 11 districts report deaths in double digits

The trend of recoveries outnumbering new cases continued on Sunday with 35573 discharges.

Mysuru, Kalaburgi, Koppala, Mandya, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Uttara Kannada, Bengaluru Rural, Belavai, Ballari, and Hassan districts reported deaths in double digits.
Karnataka on Sunday reported 25,979 new Covid-19 cases in keeping with the trend of declining caseload. The worrying part, however, is the sharp spike in the number of deaths, which rose to 626, the highest during the second wave. As a result, Karnataka's case fatality rate (CFR) shot up to 2.4 per cent.

The trend of recoveries outnumbering new cases continued on Sunday with 35,573 discharges.

Bengaluru Urban had 7494 new cases on Sunday, but with 363 deaths. There were 12,407 discharges.


Mysuru, Kalaburgi, Koppala, Mandya, Shivamogga, Tumakuru, Uttara Kannada, Bengaluru Rural, Belavai, Ballari, and Hassan districts reported deaths in double digits.

The state conducted 1,25,117 Covid tests.
