A local court on Monday accepted the closure report filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in a money laundering case linked to the 2010 Commonwealth Games scandal.

The ED had filed the report against former Maharashtra cadre IAS officer Vijay Kumar Gautam over a month ago. The agency's probe was based on an FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which had earlier booked Gautam, former Commonwealth Games Organising Committee chief Suresh Kalmadi, former secretary general Dr Lalit Bhanot, and others.

The CBI had filed its closure report in January 2014, stating that "no incriminating evidence surfaced during the investigation." It had also said that the allegations in the FIR could not be substantiated. The court had accepted the CBI's closure report at the time.
