‘Country needs him’: CJP requests Sonam Wangchuk to end hunger strike

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) on Wednesday urged activist Wangchuk to end his hunger strike, saying his life was too valuable to be put at further risk.

“We request @Wangchuk66 sir to end his hunger strike. The country needs him, and his life is far too precious to be put at further risk,” CJP said in a post on X.

The party added that its protest at Jantar Mantar would continue until its demands were addressed.

“The peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar will continue until our demands are met,” it said.

Wangchuk has been on a hunger strike as part of the ongoing protest, with CJP appealing to him amid concerns over his health.

The appeal came on a day when CJP also declined an invitation to meet Union Health Minister and BJP national president JP Nadda at his residence, insisting that any discussions should take place at the protest site in Jantar Mantar.

CJP Chief Spokesperson Saurav Das said the party was approached by police officials, who conveyed that Nadda wanted to meet its representatives. However, the party refused to go to his residence.

“This morning, the police reached out to us again and informed us that BJP national president JP Nadda wanted to speak with us. They invited us to his residence, but we categorically declined. We are not going to anyone's house or office,” Das said.

Calling the protest venue a "janata darbar", Das said government representatives should come to Jantar Mantar if they wanted to hold discussions.

“The discussion should take place at Jantar Mantar,” he said.
