Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday slammed Congress, saying the party is being run by the "tukde tukde" gang and urban Naxals. He also attacked party leader Rahul Gandhi over his comments in the US and said the party has an "anti-India agenda."

"The Congress which you see today is not the party with which a great man like Mahatma Gandhi was associated," Modi said, addressing a public meeting at Wardha in Maharashtra on completion of one year of the PM Vishwakarma scheme. "The ghost of hatred has entered the Congress," Modi said.

"In today's Congress the soul of patriotism has breathed its last," he added.

PM Modi also referred to the "anti-India agendas" of Congress leaders in their speeches abroad, without explicitly naming Rahul Gandhi, who has faced criticism from the ruling party for his comments in the US regarding the scrapping of the reservation system.

The prime minister was speaking at the one year completion programme of the 'PM Vishwakarma' scheme in poll-bound Maharashtra's Wardha where he also attacked the opposition INDI alliance over "anti-Dalit and anti-backward thinking."

"Congress and its friends deliberately did not let the SC, ST and OBC people move forward. We have eliminated this anti-Dalit and anti-backward thinking of Congress from the government system. The figures of the last one year show that SC, ST and OBC communities are taking advantage of the Vishwakarma Yojana," he said, addressing the Vishwakarma scheme in the state.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy CMs Ajit Pawar and Devendra Fadnavis, and Union Ministers of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and MoS Jayant Chaudhary were also present.

During the event, the prime minister distributed certificates and loans to PM Vishwakarma beneficiaries.
