The House also took up for consideration the Energy Conservation (Amendment) Bill, 2022. Moving the Bill, power minister RK Singh said the proposed legislation is part of India's commitment to reduce the carbon intensity of its economy by about 35% by 2030 by increasing the use of non-fossil fuel resources.
The proposed legislation, the minister said, will encourage use of clean energy through incentives like carbon credits, and will also make provisions for higher energy conservation standards in establishments, including large residential apartments. Discussions on the Bill were on.
As the government was introducing the two Bills, some DMK parliamentarians walked out of the House by complaining that they were not allowed to raise some issues.
