Allahabad High Court chief justice Pritinker Diwaker has alleged that the Supreme Court collegium led by chief justice of India Dipak Mishra exercised 'ill intent' in 2018 to recommend his transfer from the Chhattisgarh High Court to Allahabad. The judge made the allegation during his farewell speech on Wednesday. He said the recommendation was meant to 'harass' him.

At the farewell programme held for him by the HC, the CJ did not elaborate, but thanked CJI DY Chandrachud for "rectifying the injustice". Incidentally, the collegium led by CJI Chandrachud had elevated the judge as CJ of the Allahabad HC in March. The judge served in the Chhattisgarh HC for more than nine years from March 2009 before he was transferred to the Allahabad HC in 2018.

"I discharged my duty as a judge in the Chhattisgarh high court till October 2018 to the satisfaction of one and all and particularly to the satisfaction of my own inner being. Now, a sudden turn of events descended upon me when the then chief justice of India Dipak Mishra showered on me some extra affection for reasons not known to me which entailed my transfer to Allahabad High Court where I assumed my office on 3rd October 2018," he said.
