Cockroach Janta Party Protest: Abhijeet Dipke says no march now as police will hurt youth again

The Cockroach Janta Party said the party will continue its protest but will not march again after reports of hundreds of supporters getting injured in clashes with Delhi Police who tried to stop the youth-led protestors' march to India's Parliament on Monday, Reuters reported.

"We had to call ⁠off the protest yesterday because we did not want more youth to be injured," CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke told a press conference.

"We will not march again because the police will hurt the youth again," Dipke said. More than 150 protesters are under treatment in hospital, the CJP founder said.

Cockroach Janta Party's Sansad Chalo march

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), a youth-led protest movement that first gained attention through social media satire, took out its "Sansad Chalo" march to press for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over repeated examination paper leaks, including the NEET controversy.

The campaign has since widened to include concerns over youth unemployment, the handling of the education system and broader governance issues. Protesters also sought accountability after climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was hospitalised during a hunger strike. Despite restrictions imposed by Delhi Police, thousands attempted to march towards Parliament, resulting in clashes, detentions and injuries.

Cockroach Janta Party's Parliament march and injuries

Delhi Police said nearly 180 people were injured during clashes in central Delhi on Monday, including 118 police and security personnel and 60 protesters.

The months-old movement led by CJP has attracted millions of young Gen Z supporters, while many Opposition parties have also lent support.

Police said 70 protesters were detained and legal proceedings would be initiated against them.

On Tuesday morning, around 150 to 200 protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar in central Delhi despite light rain, raising slogans. Security remained tight, with paramilitary personnel deployed across parts of central Delhi and barricades causing traffic delays.
