Saurav Das' Whatsapp account restored; CJP spokesperson thanks supporters for pressuring Meta

Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) chief spokesperson Saurav Das on Wednesday claimed that his WhatsApp account had been blocked and questioned the messaging platform over the action.

"My WhatsApp account has been blocked! Can @WhatsApp tell me why and on whose direction it did so?!" Das said in a post on X.

Hours later, Das announced that his Whatsapp account had been restored.

"My WhatsApp account has been restored. Thank you all for keeping the pressure on Meta," he posted on X.

Meta blocked Saurav Das, Cockroach Janta Party’a (CJP) spokesperson by mistake by their automated systems and has been unbanned now, sources told ET.

Additionally, CJP leader Ashutosh Ranka claimed in a post on X that the party had been informed a "conspiracy case" was being prepared against its leaders and alleged they could be arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) or the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

"We knew this would eventually happen, but we have no fear. Us being jailed is a very small cost to pay for waking up an entire generation," Ranka said.

CJP calls off Delhi Police HQ protest

The youth-led CJP on Tuesday called off its 'dharna' outside Delhi Police headquarters after all detained protestors were released.

The organisation had announced a sit-in protest outside Delhi Police HQ at 8 pm yesterday, alleging that hundreds of protestors were detained and not allowed to meet lawyers.

"Our lawyers have just told us that ALL the detainees have been released. The dharna outside Delhi Police HQ is therefore called off! EVERYONE IS REQUESTED TO MAINTAIN PEACE," CJP spokesperson Saurav Das posted on X.

In a response, Delhi Police stated that no person was under detention and urged the public not to share unverified news on social media.

"Claims circulating on social media regarding persons being detained and denied access to lawyers are misleading and incorrect. It is clarified that no person is currently under detention. You are advised not to share or circulate unverified content," Delhi Police said in a statement on X.
