Closed CPSE unit to make O2 cylinders in UP

The central government has agreed to reopen the shuttered public-sector unit Bharat Pumps & Compressors in Prayagraj to manufacture oxygen cylinders, following a request from Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath. The central PSU is one of the companies listed for disinvestment by the Niti Aayog.

Meanwhile, UP is processing 54 proposals by micro, small and medium enterprises to set up oxygen production plants in various districts. Out of these, 51 proposals are for standalone units and three for pressure swing adsorption plants, each involving an investment of Rs 1.25-1.50 crore.
