CJP to take legal action if Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka are not released by Sunday
The Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has said it will pursue legal action if Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka are not released from detention.

"We have consulted Mr. Kapil Sibal. If Ashu and Saurav are not released by tomorrow, we will pursue legal action against all those who deliberately ensured that they continue to be in illegal custody especially when they have not committed nor charged with any offence. The deliberate use of delaying tactics to keep them behind bars cannot go unchallenged. Those responsible will be held accountable," said CJP in a post on X.

Earlier on October 12, Delhi Police arrested Das, Ranka and others for allegedly trespassing at Jantar Mantar, which has been de-notified as a designated protest venue. Following their detention, Das and Ranka were sent to five days of judicial custody, party member Ajinkya Shinde said, asserting that the activists would not be intimidated by the action.

Dipke granted bail with conditions

Cockroach Janata Party activist Abhijeet Dipke has been granted bail in Delhi, subject to certain conditions, Delhi Police said here on Saturday.

According to Delhi Police, Dipke will be released after signing a peace bond.

This comes after Ratna Singh, head of legal affairs for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), on Saturday challenged the legality of party founder Abhijeet Dipke’s arrest and urged the Special Executive Magistrate (SEM) Court to order his immediate release, alleging gross violations of fundamental rights and due process.

In a post on X, Singh questioned how urging citizens to participate in a peaceful national demonstration could be treated as an offence.

"The SEM Court should release Abhijeet Dipke, as his arrest is unlawful. He merely urged people to unfurl the Tiranga - how can that by itself be a crime?" Singh wrote.
