CJP seeks withdrawal of FIRs
Ranka demanded the immediate withdrawal of all FIRs registered against protestors, the release of detained students, and an assurance that no fresh cases would be filed by the Delhi Police, central investigative agencies or police forces in BJP-allied states."Failing which we will be forced to sit on protest again," he said, warning that the party could revive its agitation if the demands were not met.
The CJP leader also sought a written copy of the agreement concerning legal cases, saying it should be shared with the party by Tuesday along with the timelines agreed upon with the Government of India.
The warning comes a day after CJP called off its nationwide protests following Centre's acceptance of its pending demands after a series of meetings between Union ministers JP Nadda, Jitendra Singh and party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka.
The nationwide agitation that started in June culminated on Saturday with Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation.
