4 FIRs registered over alleged violence and vandalism of vehicles during CJP protest in Delhi

Delhi Police has registered four FIRs and is preparing to file two more in connection with the alleged violence, vandalism and other incidents during the "Sansad Chalo" march organised by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and farmers' groups on July 20, PTI reported, citing police sources.

The cases have been registered at Parliament Street, Connaught Place and other police stations under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Arms Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

According to the report, one FIR pertains to the violence and stone-pelting near Regal Cinema in Connaught Place. Separate cases relate to unlawful assembly, the alleged unauthorised operation of a drone during the ongoing Parliament session, and an alleged conspiracy behind the violence.

Police are also preparing two more FIRs in connection with assault, taking the law into one's own hands and other related offences.

The FIR registered at Parliament Street police station includes charges under multiple BNS provisions related to unlawful assembly, rioting, assault on public servants, criminal conspiracy, obstruction of government officials and damage to public property.

Police alleged that those named in the FIR formed an unlawful assembly, disrupted public order, obstructed officials from carrying out their duties, resorted to violence and damaged public property.

Another FIR has been registered against unidentified persons over the alleged stone-pelting and vandalism of police vehicles near Regal Cinema during the march. Investigators are examining CCTV footage, drone visuals, mobile phone videos and other electronic evidence to identify those involved. Social media content and other digital material are also being analysed as part of the probe.

According to police sources cited by PTI, investigators have also registered a separate FIR relating to an alleged conspiracy behind the violence after gathering evidence suggesting prior planning.

The probe into the alleged unauthorised drone operation is also underway, with Delhi Police verifying the authenticity of the footage and examining possible violations of drone regulations.

Following the clashes on Monday, security has been tightened across the national capital. Delhi Police said more than 118 personnel were injured and over 20 police vehicles were damaged during the violence.

Additional police and paramilitary personnel have been deployed across New Delhi, Central, North, South, South West and South East districts, while multi-layered barricades and intensified vehicle checks have been put in place at sensitive locations.

A senior police officer told PTI that the investigation is progressing and further legal action will be taken against those found involved in assaulting police personnel, damaging government property and disturbing public order based on the evidence collected.

Delhi Police issues traffic advisory

The Delhi Police issued a traffic advisory on Tuesday, warning of traffic restrictions and diversions in view of demonstration, protest or rallies at Kishan Ghat.

It advised commuters to avoid the affected routes around Satyagrah Marg, Velodrome Road, Rajghat DTC Depot Road and adjoining areas. "Those travelling to the Airport or Railway Stations are requested to plan their journeys well in advance," it said.
