CJP protest: Abhijeet Dipke, Dhruv Rathee, Kavya Karnatac to Pinarayi Vijayan, Manish Sisodia, full list of leaders and creators detained

Several political leaders, opposition members, digital content creators and Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) functionaries were detained on Saturday as Delhi witnessed a major security crackdown ahead of a planned protest demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.

Among those detained were CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke, YouTuber Dhruv Rathee, digital creator Kavya Karnatac and several CPI(M) leaders, including former Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

The detentions took place at multiple locations, with some CJP leaders, including Dipke, Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, reportedly taken into custody from inside an aircraft shortly after it landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

Rathee was detained from his residence in Gurugram, while other party members alleged that police had detained them from their homes. Meanwhile, opposition leaders and activists were also detained as police moved to prevent gatherings linked to the protest.

The CJP had planned to assemble at Jantar Mantar on October 10 under its “Jantar Mantar 2.0” campaign, seeking Kumar’s resignation over alleged manipulation of electoral rolls during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) and changes relating to Form 6, which is used for voter registration.

Delhi Police had denied permission for the demonstration, citing security and law-and-order concerns.
