New Delhi: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke and All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora were released on Saturday, a day after they were detained ahead of the 'Lehra Do Tiranga' protest in Connaught Place that ended in clashes between protesters and police.

The developments came as a Supreme Court-appointed High Powered Enquiry Committee launched a portal to receive complaints and representations from people affected by violence at Jantar Mantar and other places outside Delhi in July 2026. The panel will prioritise complaints involving the use of pellet guns, targeted violence and harassment of female protesters, and excessive violence and destruction of property by either side, according to an official statement.

Dipke was granted conditional bail after being produced before a special executive magistrate at Mandir Marg Police Station around noon. Police sources said he was let off after furnishing a peace bond and giving an assurance to maintain peace and good behaviour. The written order was awaited.

Bora was released earlier in the morning after completion of formalities related to her preventive detention under Section 65 of the Delhi Police Act.

"I have been released! Delhi Police release all detained protestors! Fighting for Democracy and the Constitution cannot be criminalised," Bora said in a post on X after her release.

Dipke was detained on Friday shortly after stepping out of his accommodation in Delhi's Jhandewalan area to join the CJP's planned march at Connaught Place. Police had served him two notices earlier in the day, including one barring a demonstration, procession or rally in the Connaught Place area.

His arrest on Saturday followed allegations that he had violated the conditions of a peace bond furnished on October 10. Dipke, along with CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka, had then been taken into preventive custody ahead of a planned protest and released after furnishing surety bonds of ₹50,000 each and undertaking to maintain peace and good behaviour for a year.

The 'Lehra Do Tiranga' protest on Friday descended into chaos after protesters and police clashed near Gate No. 2 of Palika Bazaar. Police detained more than 150 protesters and registered multiple FIRs for alleged violation of prohibitory orders.

Before his release, Dipke posted on X that he was "just waiting for my brothers to be free", referring to Das and Ranka.
