CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke detained during 'Sansad Chalo' march? CJP issues fresh clarification

CJP spokesperson Saurav Das has clarified that Abhijeet Dipke is not in detention or under arrest. "A HUGE CROWD is still outside Kerala House," Das said in a post on X.

Earlier, Das had said Dipke was "picked up" by Delhi Police during the party's 'Sansad Chalo' march, as protests near Parliament turned tense with security forces using tear gas and mild force to disperse demonstrators.

He also alleged that police were "brutally cracking down and beating up peaceful protesters" and appealed to MPs to support students protesting on the streets.

"Police brutally cracking down and beating up peaceful protesters, request MPs to stand in support of students on streets," Das added.

The CJP had organised the march to demand examination reforms, with thousands of supporters gathering at Jantar Mantar before attempting to move towards Parliament on the opening day of the Monsoon Session.

Security forces used tear gas and mild force after protesters allegedly attempted to cross barricades in the high-security zone around Parliament. Officials said a few Parliament gates were briefly closed as the crowd gathered near the complex.

According to PTI, protesters tried to push through multiple security barricades around 11.25 am, leading to a scuffle in which some protesters and police personnel sustained minor injuries. Around 10-15 protesters were detained, sources said.

Tensions escalated near the Constitution Club and the Reserve Bank of India area, close to Parliament, where security personnel dispersed protesters. At least seven CJP protesters were detained near the RBI, according to party representatives.

Delhi Police officials said mild force was used to disperse protesters near the RBI area. The police also denied allegations of a crackdown.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sachin Sharma said Delhi Police had not used force against the protesters.

In a statement posted on X, Delhi Police said reports of violence or detentions by its personnel at Jantar Mantar were incorrect and that the protest was being handled professionally. It urged the public not to believe rumours and to cooperate in maintaining peace and public order.

Separately, Dipke ended his indefinite hunger strike at the request of activist Sonam Wangchuk, who remains admitted at Safdarjung Hospital after completing a 21-day fast. Wangchuk had urged hospital authorities to discharge him, saying his health had stabilised and requesting permission to temporarily leave the hospital to join the march.
