Mumbai: Following the arrest of CJP leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das, Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke on Wednesday alleged that the government had imposed an "unofficial emergency". Dipke announced plans to stage a tricolour protest in the national capital on Friday.

Questioning the arrest of Ranka and Das, who are in judicial custody for protesting at Jantar Mantar, Dipke attacked the government. "Is carrying the tricolour a crime in the country now? They only carried the national flag at Jantar Mantar. How does that violate peace? If we cannot unfurl the flag in our own country, then where can we do it - in Pakistan? What have they turned this country into?" he asked.

"This is a cowardly government. If you have to declare an emergency, then do it officially. Why are you doing it this way? How has unfurling the flag become a crime at Jantar Mantar? People are being sent to judicial custody for five days. If you have the guts, then impose an emergency," Dipke said.

The CJP leader also expressed solidarity with the Congress party's march to Parliament, asserting that there were no issues between the two. Dipke also took on former solicitor general Harish Salve over his purported statement, alleging that CJP was receiving foreign funding. "I want to tell Salve to submit this evidence to the government, as they have been struggling to prove that we are receiving foreign funding," Dipke said.
