CID of Assam police has solved the case of mistaken identity and the scientific analysis revealed that the body is that of Dimbeswar Machahary.

CID on March 2 was entrusted with the inquiry regarding the firing in Udalguri district in which one person died and two Police personnel were injured. The inquiry conducted by CID revealed that the body is that of Dimbeswar Machahary (40), S/o Lt Guniram Machahary of Jengrengpara village under Gobardhana PS of Baska district. Accordingly, the dead body has been handed over to the family members of the deceased after following the formalities.

CID stated that a firing took place on March 24 at Dhansirikhuti village under Rowta PS, between a team of Udalguri Police and dacoits, one person was killed and two Police personnel received bullet injuries. Initially, the body was identified and claimed by the family members of one Kenaram Boro @ Kenaram Basumatary and Udalguri police handed over the body to Savitri Basumatary (mother of Sri Kenaram Boro), who performed the last rites.


Later the body was claimed by the family members of oneDimbeswar Machahary. To establish the identity of the deceased, CID exhumed the dead body and got the DNA Analysis done. The scientific analysis revealed that the body is that of Dimbeswar Machahary.

The enquiry report in this regard will be submitted by CID shortly. Further, the investigation into the firing incident registered vide Rowta police station is under investigation.

CID stated a complaint was received from Pulak Nath about online fraud of Rs 80,000 (Eighty thousand), at Citizen Financial Cyber Fraud Reporting and Management System 24x7 helpline no 1930. The complainant informed that the fraudster defrauded the amount from his State Bank of India Bank account without his knowledge.

On receipt of the complaint, the CID, Assam swung into action and contacted the concerned bank nodal officers over the phone and email and alerted them to trace the amount. During the process, CID was able to trace the flow of fraud accounts to Four other accounts pertaining to three other banks and froze the whole fraud amount of Rs 80,000 in those accounts. Due to the timely action of CID, Assam, the fraudster was not able to misappropriate the fraudulent money. Necessary legal action is being now taken to refund the amount to the victim.
