The state of Chhattisgarh is set to hike dearness allowance (DA) for its employees by five percent, taking it to 33 percent in total.

Approximately 3.80 lakh state government employees are set to benefit from the increased DA, officials say.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister, Bhupesh Baghel took to Twitter to announce the hike, saying, "The state government has decided to increase the DA by 5 per cent for officers and employees of the state. The hike will be effective from this month (October 1, 2022)...".


Under the 7th Pay Commission, state government employees were getting 22 percent DA, which was hiked by six percent and now has been hiked by five more to make it 33 percent.

For employees getting paid under the 6th Pay Commission, the state government increased the DA by 12 percent, pushing their allowance to 201 percent from 189 percent, according to an official.

The fresh hikes will cost the exchequer an additional Rs 930 crore per annum.
