Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray announced section 144 and some new guidelines amid rising COVID-19 cases in the state of Maharashtra.

The new restrictions will be imposed in the state with effect from tomorrow 8 p.m.

India becomes the second worst covid affected country in the world, Maharashtra continues to be the worst affected state in the country. The state has 35,19,208 confirmed covid cases and 58,526 deaths so far.


Here is the list of what is allowed and what is not in Maharashtra state according to the new guidelines issued by the government:

  1. Cinema halls, theatres,auditoriums, amusement parks, gyms, sport complexes shall remain closed in the entire state.
  2. Shooting of films, serials and ads will also be prohibited.
  3. All shops and stores not serving essential items or services will be closed till May 1.
  4. Essential services like hospitals, clinics, pharmaceutical companies and all health services, along with their dealers and distributors shall be exempted.
  5. Eating joints and restaurants to remain closed, only take away or home deliveries are allowed.
  6. Saloons, Spas, beauty parlours shall also remain closed till May 1
  7. Local buses and trains shall operate only for essential services.
  8. Construction work, petrol pumps shall continue to work.
  9. Religious places like temples and mosques will remain shut till 7 am, May 1.
  10. Educational institutions like schools, colleges, private coaching institutes shall remain closed.
  11. Shops falling under essential services can continue to operate. Shop owners and working staff to get vaccinated at the earliest and should strictly abide COVID-19 norms. Any essential shop owner or worker found defaulting the requirements shall be punished by a fine of ₹500- ₹1000.
