Char Dham Yatra 2021: No daily limit on number of pilgrims, e-pass not mandatory

The HC had yesterday removed the daily limit on the number of devotees that can visit the Char Dhams -- the temples of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri -- in the view of decreasing Covid-19 cases in the state.

Every pilgrim will however have to bring a negative coronavirus test report and a vaccination certificate.
Fresh SOP for the Char Dham yatra shows that mandatory e-pass requirement for pilgrims has been removed, with only those coming from outside needing to register on the Dehradun Smart City Portal.

The Uttarakhand High Court had yesterday removed the daily limit on the number of devotees that can visit the Char Dhams -- the temples of Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri -- in the view of decreasing Covid-19 cases in the state.

The HC earlier fixed the maximum number of devotees that can visit the temples daily at 1,000 for Badrinath, 800 for Kedarnath, 600 for Gangotri and 400 for Yamunotri.

Every pilgrim will however have to bring a negative coronavirus test report and a vaccination certificate. Apart from this, police will be deployed as per requirement in Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Uttarkashi districts.

The government told the court that all necessary arrangements have been made available in the four dhams before the start of pilgrimage on September 18 this year.
