The house owner claimed that two individuals in an auto-rickshaw hurled a grenade at the property. While there were no casualties, the blast damaged windows and garden pots, according to police.
Chandigarh Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kanwardeep Kaur, along with a team of officers, reached the scene shortly after receiving information around 5:30 pm.
Teams from the bomb detection squad and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory were also dispatched to collect evidence.
In the latest development, one suspect has been nabbed by the police.
"There was a loud sound. Some pressure type low-intensity blast took place because of which some windows and pots were damaged," the SSP said. "The complainants were sitting on their verandah of the house. They saw the suspects," he added.
Further, CCTV footage from the area captured visuals of both the explosion and the vehicle.
The police are currently investigating the possibility of personal enmity being involved, but the exact cause of the explosion remains under investigation.
