New Delhi: A nationwide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) campaign will be conducted in 2,000 cities and districts across the country from November 1, the Centre said on Friday.

This is the biggest-ever DLC campaign being undertaken, it said.

Pensioners are required to submit a life certificate annually for continuation of pension. With DLC, this process can be done digitally through "Jeevan Pramaan", a biometric-enabled digital service.

"Department of Pension & Pensioners' Welfare will be conducting the 5th Nation-wide Digital Life Certificate campaign in 2000 cities/ districts across India from November 1-30, 2026," said a statement issued by the Personnel Ministry.

A whole-of-government approach will be adopted through coordination with pension disbursing banks, India Post Payments Bank, Pensioners' Welfare Associations, Controller General of Defence Accounts (CGDA), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Railways, Employees' Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO), state governments, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to reach pensioners in the remotest corners of the country, it said.

The focus is mainly on promoting face authentication technology, the statement said.

The face authentication is a seamless and fast mode for DLC generation which can be used on Android as well as iOS, making it easy and convenient for elderly pensioners, it added.

The campaign will be conducted in an 'Utsav' mode by offering a bouquet of services such as health check-ups and Aadhaar updation for pensioners. Doorstep services will be provided to pensioners where required, the statement said.

Grievance officers will handle grievances regarding DLCs with an immediate resolution approach, it said.
