The Centre has identified 22 works under the VB-G RAM G Act to improve fodder availability, develop community pastures and strengthen livestock infrastructure for rural livelihoods.
The Department of Rural Development and the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying jointly issued an advisory to promote convergence under the Viksit Bharat-Guarantee for Rozgar and Ajeevika Mission (Gramin)-or VB-G RAM G-Act.
The 22 identified works have been shortlisted from the 375 activities permissible under the framework. These include fodder cultivation for individual households and communities, development of grazing lands and community fodder resources, as well as the creation of fodder banks, silage units and storage facilities.
The move is aimed at addressing persistent fodder shortages while improving the availability of community pastures, livestock shelters, dairy facilities and veterinary infrastructure, particularly for small and marginal farmers, and landless households dependent on animal husbandry.
The VB-G RAM G Act provides a statutory guarantee of 125 days of wage employment per rural household.
