Centre clears Rs 1,000 crore for Bengal rural roads, 1 lakh PMAY homes

The announcement came after Adhikari held a meeting with Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who said that the Rural Welfare Ministry has sanctioned Rs 8,508 crore for West Bengal for nine months till March 31, 2027, under the rural job scheme VB-G RAM G.

"The total outlay will be over Rs 12,064 crore with contribution from the state government," Chouhan added.
Addressing reporters, Adhikari said, "The Centre has given West Bengal Rs 1,000 crore under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana in the first phase for construction of 2,400 km roads."
He also said, "Union Minister Chouhan handed over the sanction for one lakh houses under the PM Awaas Yojana to me and Panchayat Minister Dilip Ghosh."

At the press conference, Chouhan said that infrastructure works worth Rs 82,492 crore were undertaken in West Bengal, but could not be completed owing to non-cooperation by the previous government in the state.
"All impediments in the path of completing these projects have been removed by the Suvendu Adhikari dispensation," he said, assuring people that infrastructure in the state will now be developed at a fast pace.
