Central government employees who donate organs will receive 42 days of special casual leave, the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) announced. This leave is intended to cover recovery time, including hospitalization and post-surgery recovery.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued the order, which is now available on the NOTTO website. NOTTO chief Dr. Anil Kumar confirmed the order, stating, "We have put the orders on our website for wider circulation and awareness recently."

The 42-day leave applies to all types of organ donation surgery and can be taken starting up to one week before the surgery with a doctor’s recommendation. The leave is typically taken in one stretch from the hospital admission date.

A living person can donate a kidney, part of the pancreas, or a portion of the liver. These organs can either function with a reduced volume or regenerate after donation.
