Speaking at the State Assembly, CM Fadnavis said, "Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's principles were accepted in Maharashtra, but there were many misconceptions about them at the national level. In CBSE textbooks, there was only one paragraph about the Maratha Empire, the Hindavi Swarajya. But the history of the Mughals spanned 17 pages. But now this history has changed.
The Chief Minister added that this imbalance has now been corrected. "The Central government has now included a 21-page history of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and the Maratha Empire in the CBSE curriculum," he added.
In a separate statement during the Assembly session, Fadnavis addressed concerns regarding the state's financial position, asserting that Maharashtra continues to maintain economic strength and fiscal discipline.
I wouldn't say that the state treasury is overflowing with money, but considering the economies of large states, Maharashtra's economy qualifies on all criteria. The RBI has allowed us to raise loans up to 25 per cent of our gross domestic product. We are far from reaching this limit. We are the third-ranked state in the country in this regard."
Fadnavis said that despite implementing welfare schemes such as the 'Ladki Bahin' scheme and extending support to farmers, the state has managed to keep its fiscal deficit within three per cent.
"Even after providing funds for schemes like the 'Ladki Bahin' scheme and supporting farmers, we have managed to keep our fiscal deficit within 3 per cent. We have made more capital investments than expected by the Central government. Maharashtra is number one in the country in terms of foreign investment," he added.
The winter session of the Maharashtra Legislature commenced in Nagpur on December 8 and concluded on December 14.
