The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) will be destroying roughly 42,000 kilograms of narcotics across 14 locations in India, the Ministry of Finance said in a press release on Tuesday.

Narcotics would be destroyed across 14 locations including Guwahati, Mumbai, and Siliguri on Wednesday. The Drug Destruction Day will be marked as part of the ministry's 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' events to commemorate India's 75th anniversary of independence, the ministry said in a press release.

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will be witnessing the event in Guwahati, Lucknow, Mumbai, Mundra/Kandla, Patna, and Siliguri and will address the officers virtually.
