The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has got two new members in its board as the centre Friday approved appointments of Indian revenue service (IRS) officers Mohan Kumar Singh and Yogendra Garg, effective December 1, 2024 and January 1, 2025 respectively.

Mohan Kumar Singh, an IRS batch of 1989 batch, is currently principal director general, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI). An alumnus of IIT Delhi, he has handled important assignments, including stint at World Customs Organization ( WCO ) and World Trade Organization (WTO). He is likely to succeed senior CBIC member Rajeev Talwar who is superannuating on November 30.

Yogendra Garg, a 1990 batch IRS officer, He was Principal Director General of Systems and Data Management, where he was key in integration of tax systems and e-filing processes and the reforms. He may replace CBIC member Alok Shukla, who is superannuating on December 30.
