CBI to issue fresh summons to Manish Sisodia

The CBI will issue fresh summons to Delhi's deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia in connection with alleged irregularities in the Delhi government's now-scrapped liquor policy.

Sisodia, who was asked to appear before the agency in its headquarters here on Sunday, did not show up. He wrote to CBI urging it to summon him any time after February since he was busy preparing the finance budget for Delhi.

"I will visit CBI office after February, whenever they call me. As finance minister, I am responsible for preparing the budget. It is very important. Hence, I have urged CBI to set a new date for summoning me. I have always cooperated with the agencies," Sisodia told the media persons earlier on Sunday.


Sisodia alleged that the summons was sent to him a day after the Supreme Court's ruling on the MCD mayoral polls (last Friday). The top court had ruled that nominated members have no right to vote in the MCD elections. Sisodia has alleged that BJP is behind the issuance of CBI summons.

He claimed that he was busy giving final touches to the Delhi budget when he was called to join the investigation. Sisodia further said that BJP was using CBI to stop the AAP government from doing development in Delhi. Sisodia had earlier been questioned by the agency on October 17.
