The CBI conducted raids in 14 municipalities and arrested promoter Ayan Sil's ancestral house, who is in ED custody in connection with the WBSSC recruitment scam. Sil's wife and parents were questioned on Wednesday.
"There is an attempt to divert attention from the railway accident. Central agency officials have been sent to various municipalities in Bengal to divert attention and suppress the truth behind the accident," Chief minister Mamata Banerjee said, slamming the central agency's raids in the state.
The CBI conducted raids in municipalities including Dumdum, Krishnanagar and Shantipur in Nadia district and Baranagar, Taki, Panihati in North 24 Parganas.
Dumdum Municipality chairman Harinder Singh said, "The probe is done following the high court directive. We want real information to come out. It is our duty to cooperate with the agency."
