The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against 20 people and conducted raids at 14 locations in Jammu division on Wednesday in connection with allegations of irregularities in the examination for the post of accounts assistant in the Jammu and Kashmir administration.

Raids were conducted at 14 locations in Jammu and Samba districts at the premises of the accused and others, including the then member of J&K Service Selection Board, which conducted the examination.

The J&K administration, following allegations of irregularities in the written test conducted by the JKSSB in March, results of which were declared in April, ordered an inquiry, following which the CBI was requested to investigate the matter. "The report of the inquiry committee revealed the alleged conspiracy amongst officials of JKSSB, a private company based in Bengaluru, beneficiary candidates and others causing gross irregularities in conduct of the examination," said a CBI official, who did not wish to be identified.

It has been alleged that a high percentage of candidates from the districts of Jammu, Kathua and Reasi were selected, the question paper was leaked, and the JKSSB violated rules in assigning the task of setting question paper to a Bengaluru-based private company and committed forgery as well.
