CBI makes four arrests in connection to Bengal coal scam

The CBI made four arrests in connection to coal scam in Bengal on Monday.

Four persons- Jaydeb Mandal, Narayan Kharka, Gurupada Majhi and Baran Mandal, were nabbed by the CBI. These four persons were close aides of Benoy Mishra, the kingpin of the scam, were arrested from Asansol area.

The CBI has arrested an absconding accused from Pune (Maharashtra) in connection with another case related to violence and other offences in West Bengal.


The arrested accused was produced before the Court and was granted transit remand for four days. The CBI will bring them back to Kolkata on transit remand.

“The accused along with unknown miscreantd had broken into the house of the complainant with weapons like sharp dagger, pipes of tube well, iron rod and fire arms. They allegedly ransacked the house of the complainant and dragged out the husband of the complainant,” CBI sources said.

Meanwhile, Trinomool MLA Madan Mitra was quizzed in connection with I-Core ponzi scam, after TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee, TMC MLA Manas Bhunia the CBI on Monday.

The CBI sources claimed that Madan Mitra’s son Swapan Mitra is likely to be quizzed on Tuesday.

On the other side Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned West Bengal law minister Moloy Ghatak for the third time.
