CBI FIR in Disha Salian's death case alleges conspiracy, cover-up

Mumbai: Central Bureau of Investigation has registered an FIR into the death of Bollywood celebrity manager Disha Salian, days after the Bombay High Court ordered a probe by the agency.

FIR has been registered on the basis of a detailed statement given by Salian's father, Satish Salian. The agency has invoked various provisions of the erstwhile Indian Penal Code relating to murder, gang rape, causing disappearance of evidence and offences concerning public servants allegedly framing incorrect records or disobeying legal directions to shield offenders.

The FIR does not name anyone as an accused, in line with the high court's order. Satish Salian has alleged a conspiracy followed by a cover-up in connection with his daughter's death. FIR lists several people whose roles, according to his statement, require investigation, including Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, Rohan Roy, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, Aditya Thackeray's bodyguards, Rhea Chakraborty, Showik Chakraborty, former police officer Sachin Vaze, former Mumbai police commissioner Param Bir Singh, DCP Vishal Thakur and former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, among others.

FIR also refers to allegations of the "creation and propagation of the false suicide story" and the "suppression, destruction and/or fabrication of evidence". It further names several police officers, doctors, forensic officials, security guards and members of the special investigation team whose roles have been sought to be examined.

Salian, 28, died in June 2020 after reportedly falling from the 14th floor of the Regent Galaxy building in Malad, Mumbai. Her death came five days before the body of actor Sushant Singh Rajput was found at his rented residence in Bandra on June 14. BJP leader Nitesh Rane had alleged that the two deaths were connected.
