CBI submits closure report in Mumbai Court in Sushant Singh Rajput's death case: Sources
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a closure report in the alleged suicide case of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput.

The report was submitted to a special court in Mumbai on Saturday, and it will now be up to the court to decide whether to accept the findings or order further investigation into the matter.

Sushant Singh Rajput, 34, was found dead in his apartment in the Bandra area of Mumbai on June 14, 2020. His sudden death sparked widespread media attention and public speculation, leading to an outpouring of theories, including claims of foul play.

Initially, the Bihar Police registered an abetment of suicide case following a complaint filed by Rajput’s father, K.K. Singh, in Patna. The investigation was later handed over to the CBI.

The CBI’s investigation has largely been focused on claims made by Rajput’s family, including allegations that Rhea Chakraborty, the actor’s rumoured girlfriend, and her family misappropriated his finances.

Chakraborty has repeatedly denied these allegations in public statements and media interviews. The CBI recorded statements from Chakraborty, along with others in Rajput's close circle, and also examined the actor’s medical records as part of their probe.

As part of its investigation, the CBI also sought a medico-legal opinion from forensic specialists at AIIMS. The experts concluded that the theories of "poisoning" or "strangulation" were not supported by the evidence. Instead, their findings backed the initial conclusion of suicide, which was the official cause of Rajput’s death.

Now, with the CBI submitting its closure report, the special court in Mumbai will determine whether the case should be closed or if further investigation is necessary. The closure report brings an official end to the inquiry unless the court decides otherwise.

The case has been a subject of intense media scrutiny and public debate, and Rajput’s death continues to remain a sensitive topic for many of his fans and loved ones. With the CBI’s findings now on the table, the legal proceedings will likely unfold in the coming weeks.
