Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Wednesday said that absconding Trinamool Congress leader Shahjahan Sheikh, alleged of sexual assault on women and land grabbing at Sandeshkhali, can be arrested by the CBI, Enforcement Directorate (ED) or West Bengal Police.

A division bench, presided by Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam, clarified that the court in its February 7 order had stayed the formation of a joint SIT of the CBI and state police to probe an attack on ED officials. The ED officials were attacked by a mob at Sandeshkhali on January 5 as they had gone to raid the premises of Sheikh in connection with ration distribution case probe.
