Cattle smuggling case: ED arrests TMC leader Anubrata Mondal

Mondal is already in jail custody after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested him on August 11 in connection with the same case. Mondal was questioned by ED inside the Asansol jail from morning and was "arrested" in the evening.

After questioning, the ED took Mondal into their custody and will produce him in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Friday.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Trinamool Birbhum district president and heavyweight leader Anubrata Mondal on Thursday in connection with the multi-crore cattle smuggling case . Mondal is already in jail custody after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested him on August 11 in connection with the same case. Mondal was questioned by ED inside the Asansol jail from morning and was "arrested" in the evening.

On Thursday, the ED served a notice and questioned Mondal inside Asansol jail for more than five hours. After questioning, the ED took Mondal into their custody and will produce him in Delhi's Rouse Avenue Court on Friday.

Mondal was arrested on August 11 from his residence at Bolpur by a team of CBI investigators for allegedly not cooperating in its investigation into the cattle smuggling case. Mondal had skipped appearance before the CBI and did not respond to several summons by the central agency prior to that.
