Case of omicron found in Dharavi, Mumbai

Another case of the Omicron variant of coronavirus has been detected in India. The patient, who stays in Dharavi, landed in Mumbai on December 4 from Tanzania.

Another case of the Omicron variant of coronavirus has been detected in India. The patient, who stays in Dharavi, landed in Mumbai on December 4 from Tanzania.

The patient was tested at the airport as a 2% sample as Tanzania was not in the list of ‘at-risk’ countries.The patient tested positive & was communicated to G North ward as such.

The medical team of the concerned ward tracked the patient and 2 others who came to receive him. He was immediately shifted to Seven Hills Hospital in the city. The patient was found to be asymptomatic & has not been vaccinated against Covid-19.


So far, India has reported 25 cases of the Omicron strain, Lav Agarwal, Joint Secretary of the Union Health Ministry said on Friday, adding that all the detected cases have mild symptoms. Out of the total number of Omicron cases in the country, nine are from Rajasthan, three from Gujarat, 10 from Maharashtra, two from Karnataka, and one from Delhi, the government official said.
